Now that the Fall sport season is over, let’s give a shout out to the West Jr High School for having an impressive 2024 season. The West Blue Imps had a record of 6-3.
According to Coach Sartin, "We are in the third year of the process of rebuilding the West Junior High Football program. A host of three-year players anchored us. Bryce Patton, Austin White, Ethan Bufford, and Prentiss Woods were solid on the Offensive and Defensive lines. Keaton Troxler had a huge year at QB distributing the ball to our playmakers. Brusing Running back Demetrius Craft punished defenses all season. Brayden and Cayden Bass as well as newcomers Brelene Perkins and Ramari Stokes were able to keep defenses honest at receivers this season. Defensively, Ashton clack, Kamareon Johnson and Jose Guerreo as well as many of the aforementioned players flowed in a bend, but don’t break attack this season. Electric 8th graders Geordan Malone and Jaden Rodgers also aided us."
“I am most proud of the Legacy being left by this class of freshmen this season. Their work ethic and resilience are unmatched. The future is also bright. The eighth-grade class is a talented bunch of guys that contributed this season and really began to find their way late in the season. Our seventh graders are also incredibly talented with a similar work ethic to the ninth graders. Taking advantage of our new weight room, we believe that pound for pound they are stronger than our ninth graders were at this same point in time. It is great to be a Blue Imp!", continued Sartin.
Coach Sartin along with his staff, should be incredibly proud of their efforts. Developing young athletes isn’t just about teaching the game, but also about instilling the right mindset and work ethic—and both programs are doing just that. When players learn to win the right way at an early age, it sets them up for success not just on the field but also as individuals,” says Coach Mike Dobbins, Athletic Director. The future looks bright for Blue Devil football! It’ll be exciting to see how these young athletes continue to grow and eventually come together at the high school level.
